ACAM is a nonprofit medical society dedicated to educating physicians and other health care professionals in preventive/nutritional medicine. ACAM’s goals are to improve skills, knowledge and diagnostic procedures for patients.
ACAM doctors practice complementary and alternative medicine in addition to conventional medicine. The ACAM supports research and works to develop awareness of alternative methods of medical treatment. There are thousands of ACAM doctors in 30 countries around the world.

What are DAN doctors and how do I find one?
When we began the process of healing our son with a chronic multifocal tic disorder in 2007 we heard constant references to DAN doctors. We had no idea what they were or how we could find one.
DAN simply stands for: Defeat Autism Now.
DAN doctors are medical doctors (often pediatricians) that also study and practice alternative methods to help cure their patients and stop further progression of neurological dysfunction. If there are any treatments that cause further trauma to the patient, the medical malpractice attorneys at Hastings Law Firm deal with medical negligence cases. DAN doctors are very similar to ACAM doctors, but they mainly specialize in neurological issues on the autism spectrum. I’ll explain more about that in a minute.
What do DAN Doctors Do?
DAN doctors use extensive lab testing and work to help balance the body’s chemistry through diet and supplements. Many DAN doctors use orthomolecular medicine and elimination diets to heal digestive disorders. Some prescribe special enzymes to aid in digestion. They are very similar to ACAM doctors and are often a member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine.
DAN doctors focus on children with neurological problems that are associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders. You may here the term ASD disorders. That’s what people mean when they say, “ASD.”
You might be thinking, “My child is not autistic, so why would I go to a DAN doctor for treatment?” You are not alone. Just bear in mind that some of the same digestive and vitamin mineral deficiencies in autism are also present in other conditions that are similar but less severe, you just have to be really careful on who you choose to be your doctor, my friend recently made a really bad decision choosing a doctor and she had to find help from http://www.the-medical-negligence-experts.co.uk/ so that the problem would resolve quickly. That’s what is meant by the word ‘spectrum‘.
For example, Tourette syndrome and ADHD are on the autism spectrum. In some cases, children will have more than one condition. They call this “comorbid” conditions. Your child may have both ADHD and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). You may have a child with Asperger syndrome and motor tics. Tics are not uncommon in autism. The part of the brain that is affected/damaged/altered (whatever you want to term it) in autism is the same part of the brain that is affected by motor tics. They are just different manifestations of a similar dysfunction.

Why You Should Switch to an ACAM Doctor or a DAN Doctor:
We know that there is an epidemic increase in children with autism spectrum disorders in the U.S. For boys the number is less than 1 in 100 now.
We need to ask ourselves why.
Many people blame the vaccines. I personally believe they can act as a catalyst when they are given to a child with an already broken immune system. This happened to our family. But I do not believe they are the main/only cause. Although there are people who actually get wrongly diagnosed and treat, and they have not other choice that present Medical Negligence Claims depending on the facility they were attended but is not all the cases.
Genetically engineered food (GMO food) is also a problem because it requires more pesticide use than conventional crops do. In the U.S. most of our processed foods are made with genetically engineered ingredients. All your favorite top brands include corn, soy, and canola oil made from GMOs.
So for some reason our children are less equipped to fight off infections and digest their food than our parents and grandparents. Today many physicians we see are specialized, and lack the knowledge necessary to see the big picture. In the U.S. children are increasingly prescribed medications for conditions of unknown causes. If you have a child with neurological problems and you want a deeper understanding why, look for an ACAM or DAN doctor. Together you can work to create a healthier home environment, better diet, and proper supplements. In some cases this is enough to wean your child off of prescription medication. In other cases it can help to greatly reduce meds.
