The Historic Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo will return to Chicago’s Merchandise Mart (8th Floor, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, Chicago) for its 2007 show. This year’s Expo will take place on Saturday, October 27th, 2007 from 10am-4pm.
Visitors will have access to 150 vendors as well as 15 hands-on seminars – focused both on historic home restoration and green building technology – plus information on loans and grants available for home purchase and rehab through the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association (HCBA) and City of Chicago’s Department of Housing.
“The Historic Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo offers residents the tools and resources necessary to purchase their first home, restore a historic house, or incorporate green building techniques into their renovation projects,” said Annette Conti, Executive Director of the HCBA.
Vendors will be on hand to advise residents on any number of projects, from installing a rain garden or restoring wood windows to upgrading wiring or plumbing in their historic homes. Workshops at the event will help demystify home rehab and restoration and explain the ins and outs of confusing mortgage or permit issues.
Admission is free, street and lot parking are available, and the Merchandise Mart can be easily reached by public transportation.
