Here’s another family recipe that is perfect for the holidays. This is a simple recipe that takes 10 minutes to prepare and cooks for 2 1/2 hours in the crockpot on high. It is so easy that your kids can help you with it, and once it is in the pot and cooking you don’t need to worry about a thing, there is no need to watch it or stir. Allergy sufferers need not worry either, because this dish is naturally gluten-free, corn and dairy-free. Made with apples, our Crockpot Cranberry Sauce is a bit sweeter than most, making it a favorite for little eaters.
Ingredients:
1 bag of fresh cranberries (4 cups)
8 small apples peeled, cored and chopped in a food processor (I used fuji apples, rather than granny smith)
1 1/2 cups of pure cane sugar
1 cup Simply Pure orange juice (all natural, no ascorbic acid)
1 packet of unflavored Knox gelatin
Directions:

Just dump all ingredients (except gelatin) into a 2 quart crockpot and stir once to mix. I used a mini-prep food processor to chop the apple pieces as show in this picture. My grandmother used to make this recipe with larger apple chunks, which is also very good. In a pinch? Use 3 cups of apple sauce.
Turn crockpot on and let cook on high for 2- 2 1/2 hours. When the cranberries have popped turn the crockpot off and add the gelatin. Stir until well mixed. Chill for at least 2 hours. This dish can be made a few days in advance.
