Ratatouille - Remy

If you haven’t seen Disney’s summer sleeper yet, do make the effort before the school year officially begins. Ratatouille (2007) is a cute movie about a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a great French chef, despite his family’s constant discouragement. Little Remy, played by Patton Oswalt, takes us on a wild journey from the rooftop of a French cottage in the country all the way to Paris where he struggles to fulfill his culinary dreams while making friends and defying everyone’s wildest expectations. He cooks up a wonderful life for himself and those around him after learning ten simple life lessons. Adults and children will find this story heartwarming and useful in both the kitchen and life in general. This movie also stars Brad Garrett as Gusteau, Janeane Garofalo as Colette, Lou Romano as Linguini, and Peter O’Toole as Anton Ego.

  1. Follow your dreams, no matter how big, and don’t be afraid to try anything once, even if it means you have to dodge some bullets.
  2. Learn to read, and do it often. You can teach yourself just about anything.
  3. Always wash your hands before you eat, and don’t play in the dirt.
  4. Never eat garbage for dinner, you just don’t know where it came from or how long it’s been sitting around.
  5. Eat small portions, and do it slowly, enjoying every taste and scent.
  6. Never take something that doesn’t belong to you without asking first. You can get yourself into a lot of trouble.
  7. If you drink too much wine you are going to get sick.
  8. When things seem to be at their worst don’t stop trying, don’t ever give up on yourself, and no matter what don’t quit!
  9. Sometimes the most wonderful things in life are simple and sweet, and like ratatouille, they remind us of mom.
  10. Most importantly, Anyone can cook, even a rat, but that doesn’t mean everyone should!
