A new report from the International Journal of Biological Sciences has found Monsanto’s three most popular varieties of GM corn (NK 603, MON 810, and MON 863) to cause organ damage in rats, contrary to an earlier study done by Monsanto that led to U.S. government approval of these GM seeds.

1. Use sunscreen (spf 15 or 30) and REAPPLY every 1.5 hrs!
There are two take-home messages here. First of all it is true that applying sunscreen will not prevent you from getting all types of skin cancer. However, you also have to remember that applying the sunscreen can prevent most of the skin cancers such as squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, or basal cell carcinoma of the skin. It is important, also, that you get adequate vitamin D for a healthy immune system, so during times of low UV levels it is necessary to get at least 15 minutes of sun exposure without sunscreen. Sunscreen use should be utilized during times when UV levels are high and when long-term exposure is planned (like a day at the beach). …read the rest of this entry »

Most women faced with menopause automatically start with the question, “What kind of HRT should I choose?” This is the wrong approach. Patients need to become more informed before they sit down to have that conversation with their doctor.
Not too long ago during my medical school clinical training, I witnessed an exchange between a 26 year old woman scheduled to undergo a total hysterectomy for severe endometriosis and her consulting doctor. …read the rest of this entry »

If you have issues with sensitive skin, and especially if you have recently been diagnosed with allergies or intolerances, you may want to take a long look at your soaps, deodorants, perfumes, and cosmetics bag and perhaps do a little purging this weekend. Many favorite name brand cosmetics and personal products are full of common allergens and known cancer causing toxins. After having had a few strange reactions after using popular drugstore brands over the years I finally switched to high end cosmetics only to find that even those irritated my skin. I soon became an occasional makeup wearer, but now there are better options available for women with sensitive skin and known allergies. Not only will your complexion improve, and your confidence, but you may actually feel healthier too. …read the rest of this entry »
