Hi Caryn

I just wanted to say WOW. I found this site by looking for something else, and it's really exciting (maybe a bad choice of word) to find another family out there like ours. We also have 3 boys and a girl, and 5 out of 6 have food allergies, none the same. Personally, I LOVE pecan pie, and haven't been able to have it in years because of my allergies, but I can not wait to try this!!! Thanks for the awesome-sauce share.

I never would have guessed this worked. Wow. Had a small pea size one, antibiotics only reduced it, then it came back and doubled to a pea size with a nickel size one below it. Started second round of antibiotics on Friday, by Sunday there was a reduction in pain but it was still mostly the same size. Monday afternoon I bought the Vitamin E and took 1,000 IU. In the morning it already seemed smaller. By Wednesday afternoon it was completely gone and my armpit is as smooth as a baby's butt, not even the scarred skin is there. That was over a week ago and it has not returned. Amazing.

Comment on Set Internet Parental Controls on Your Child’s iPad or Kindle Fire by Caryn Talty

If you have a private wifi system you will have to go into the settings (cog wheel image in top right corner of screen). Go into the cog wheel at the top right corner of your screen (this is the settings). Click on it. Then a series of options will pop up. Select 'wi-fi'. Check to make sure the wireless networking is 'on'. If not, slide the orange bar to turn it on. It is possible that the network password was disturbed and you will need to type it in again. See if this helps. Do you have a 4 digit pin set up to keep your device settings secure? Did your daughter do this for you and you do not know the numbers? The only way to fix this issue would be to deregister the device (which wipes it clean and erases EVERYTHING on it.) You can deregister it from the Amazon website. Just sign into your Amazon account and select 'manage devices'. Once it is deregistered it will restore to factory settings and you will have to manually set everything up again-- email, wifi, parental settings, apps, books, and register it all over again with your amazon account. I have my fingers crossed that all you have to do is turn wireless networking on again and reset your wireless password..... Then immediately afterward, put in a good 4 digit pin! Also consider getting Zoodles for your daughter. You can allow apps on it but it will keep her out of your personal settings and away from apps you don't want her viewing as well as limit her internet to kiddo stuff.

Okay I am a new Owner of the Kendal fire. Till now I have not had any complaints, but I also have a three year old daughter whom likes to play a childrens puzzle app that I have recently purchased for her. Some how she managed to explored the parental setting which I have yet to set up and lock me out of wifi. And all suggestions will be of much appreciation. I am clueless as to how to reset it. I have tried reset my amazon password but it seems to not help?

Vitamin E is a miracle worker! I first became acquainted with E when my husband was having cluster headaches. When I researched them, I found they are a vascular disease. We lived in Ohio at the time, and I wrote to the Shute Institute in London, Ontario, Canada who have been using E for numerous problems. We went there in October (many long years ago), and they told us to take 800 IU/day. I was skeptical because he was due to get the headaches in January. If you know anything about these headaches, they come on strong every other year in January/February at 3 a.m. As you can see, they are very specific. We finally had an oxygen tank put in the basement, so he could go down there and breathe pure O2. At any rate, he started taking the E......and no headaches. He got rather cocky and stopped taking them......and, bingo, a bee stung him and caused the clusters to return. Back went the O2 tank in the basement, and he started taking the E again to get rid of the clusters. So, he stopped taking the E again.....and, yes, he got them again when he became exhausted while travelling overseas. So, back went the O2 tank in the basement. This time I begged him to continue, and, now, he religiously takes them and no more cluster headaches. While at the Shute Institute, they gave me an article about E for breast cysts. A nurse friend told me she had a lump in her breast; she took the E and it went away. Needless to say, I have many books on E. It is known as the heart vitamin but it does so much more!

Grammy,
This year we altered that recipe and created a low carb version with almond flour. http://healthy-family.org/caryn/1712/low-carb-carrot-cake
This will create a much denser cake. The recipe you see here is so similar to regular carrot cake that your party guests will not know the difference. The low carb carrot cake, however, has a much different taste and feel to it. It is also much more expensive to make for large groups because almond flour is very expensive to buy. Our low carb carrot cake is also made without refined sugar, too. If low carb isn't an issue for you then you can substitute with any number of gluten free flour blends that omit rice, tapioca flour/starch, and potato starch. We avoid corn starch in our house, but that is a good substitute for potato starch as far as baking science is concerned. Arrowroot starch is also another good binding flour that is often substituted for tapioca starch (although I think it is better for gravies than for baking, myself). If you want a low carb flour, take a look at our other recipe and see what you think. If you use that GF Mama's Almond Blend Flour let us know how it turns out. Sometimes whipping the egg whites separately will get some air into the batter and make it more airy when baked.

Caryn, Have you tried using any of the flour blends to replace the rice four, tapioca flour and potato starch? I have used GF Mama’s Almond Blend Flour (mostly for cookies). Any way to use it for this cake? Thank you!

Kristen,
Stevia is tough because if you don't get a good brand it has a funny aftertaste. My kids never really liked it, so we opted to use honey as our sweetener more often. Honey is better than the other sweeteners, but if you want to kill candida you really need to limit it. This last year we started using xylitol (made in the U.S.A.) in some of our baked goods instead of honey. They liked it much better. I used to use maple syrup in the very beginning but that is absolutely not good for candida. Neither is agave syrup.
