Cosmetics Made without Bismuth Oxychloride

There are a couple companies that I love which avoid  bismuth oxychloride. My all time favorite is Red Apple Lipstick. I started buying only their lipsticks and have come to also love their mascara and eye shadow as well. They also have an eye primer product called Prime Time that is a great cover up. I’ve also learned that you only need a little. It helps to keep the eye shadow from creasing if I apply a little over the eye, and lasts all day. 100% Pure is my go to brand for liquid and powder foundation, and they also have wonderful hair and skin care products. I love buying 100% Pure argan oil.

Red Apple Lipstick Cosmetics

Want a cosmetic company you can get really excited about? Red Apple Lipstick is an innovative full range cosmetics company that has taken the natural cosmetics industry by storm. Their complete line is free from bismuth oxychloride. Red Apple Lipstick’s eyeshadow, eyeliner and lip pencils do contain mica, and the company has full disclosure of their ingredients on all their products. They are a non-GMO  gluten free company that is hand crafted in small batches in the U.S. from high quality ingredients. Worried about animal cruelty? Red Apple Lipstick is for you. They also avoid carmine and FD & C colors, cornstarch, and talc. The company also avoids parabens, which are highly toxic preservatives. The entire line is also corn free. There is only one product made with soy in their entire product line, and that’s their retractable lip pencils. Some of their products contain iron oxides and titanium dioxide. If you are celiac or have a gluten allergy, you’ll be happy to know that Red Apple Lipstick tests every batch and securely stores their products. They have eyeliners in multiple colors too. Customers can choose from navy, cocoa, eggplant, and black.

Mineral Hygienics

makeup without bismuth oxychlorideTheir entire line of products is free from bismuth oxychloride. They do contain mica and a select few products are also made with parabens. Mineral Hygienics is a favorite brand on America’s Top Salon. The company eliminated harmful fillers, stabilizers, dyes, perfumes, talc, and petro-chemicals from their formulations. Mineral Hygienics is rich in both titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. The company claims both ingredients are good for blocking harmful UVA and UVB rays naturally. If you are worried about sun damage, you may want to consider Mineral Hygienics. Mineral Hygienics is recommended by doctors, surgeons, and dermatologists for women suffering from sensitive skin conditions including acne and rosacea.

100% Pure

Organic and All Natural Beauty ProdictsTheir products do not contain any synthetic chemicals, parabens, sulfates or harsh detergents, artificial fragrances, or FD&C colors. Their products are made without bismuth oxychloride, but some of them do contain mica. Most of their products are gluten free, and they are all pigmented with fruits rather than mineral compounds. 100% Pure has a fruit pigmented patent-pending technology. Rather than using chemical preservatives, 100% pure uses natural preservatives such as anti-bacterial herbs. Their products all have expiration dates on them. I recently bought their healthy skin foundation in both the peach bisque and white peach colors. My skin tone is somewhere in between. I pump one drop of each color and mix together to apply on my face. This is a creamy foundation with great coverage. It contains titanium dioxide but is free from bismuth oxychloride and mica. I love it. Shop 100% Pure  makeup if you are looking for products with no synthetic chemicals, preservatives, artificial fragrances, or artificial colors.

  1. My facial skin has been tricky to care for since high school. It tends to be oily but if I fail to apply a moisturizer (either I ran out or I just forget) for a day or two and it will quickly dry up, leaving unsightly white patches on my face. Given that, it’s been quite complicated to get the right product. It had to be strong enough to fight the oil but gentle enough to not cause it to dry up. I’ve always craved for some kind of balance. I sought skincare products that had simple ingredients (that I could recognize much less pronounce). I chose all natural, organic brands that promised nourishing my skin without harsh chemicals. Some of the worked but were mostly broke the bank. Too expensive to maintain. Then I reached a point where I started to make my own. I googled recipes for herbal remedies and concoctions using ingredients from my own kitchen. Blah, blah, blah, there came Matcha Skin (www.matchaskin.com). I have always been in love with green tea and when I stumbled upon an article on Matcha, I was hooked. It’s like green tea on steroids. I love its absolutely potent anti-oxidant qualities and how it balances my skin. It fights the oil but never dries up my skin. Though it’s super natural, it’s not as expensive as the other more popular (but not so effective) brands. Because of its price, I didn’t hesitate to give it a try and I am so thankful I did. I have found it. No more trial and error looking for the perfect skincare line that works for me.
