Rodney Ford is a pediatric gastroenterologist from Christ Church New Zealand. He has launched two public service videos that explain very simply how Gluten can affect the brain and the gut. Dr. Rodney Ford is the author of several books about what he has termed, “the gluten syndrome.” To learn more about how gluten can make you sick, check out his public service videos.
Who is Dr. Rodney Ford?
Dr. Rodney Ford is not just a gastroenterologist. He’s also the founder of The Doctor Gluten Project. It was set up in 2005 to tell the world about the harmful effects of gluten. Dr. Rodney Ford is a worldwide expert on the damaging effects of gluten. He urges people who suffer from reoccurring bouts of illness yet test negative for celiac disease to go ahead and try the gluten free diet anyway.
Dr. Ford explains to his patients the most common symptoms of food intolerance. On the skin they are: eczema, dermatitis, and rashes. In the intestines they could be: bloating, a sore tummy, abdominal pains, diarrhea, constipation, and irritable bowel. They could also be gastric reflux, and heartburn. Some people get headaches, migraine, tiredness, and low energy. Neurological conditions like ADHD can also be relieved by a gluten free diet.
Videos Explain How Gluten Can Make You Sick When You Don’t have Celiac
The first video is geared toward children and adults alike. Dr. Rodney Ford makes a very understandable and simple explanation of how gut and brain symptoms are connected in the person who suffers from gluten intolerance, or the gluten syndrome.
I have included another video from Dr. Rodney Ford. This video about gluten sensitivity is called: Who Needs a Gluten Test? This short clip is more technical. It helps people to understand the different antibody responses to gluten. The video explains the two types of antibody tests available to patients. These tests help to determine gluten intolerance or celiac disease.
These educational videos about gluten intolerance are a perfect tool. Use them to help educate friends and family members about the gluten syndrome. They are brief and simple. Dr. Rodney Ford gets the point across in a very elementary way. I recommend these gluten intolerance films as a resource for any family with a child suffering from celiac disease. Celiac picture books and children’s chapter books are also great teaching tools for kids. Gluten is also implicated as a culprit for common neurological conditions in children like ADHD and tic disorders. Use these videos from Dr. Rodney Ford as simple teaching tools for educators, family members, classmates, playmates, neighbors, and babysitters. They are great for anyone that comes in regular contact with your gluten intolerant child.
