This gluten free stir fry beef recipe is really easy, I promise. Do you like stir fry beef? You may really like this one. In an attempt to pack more veggies in my meals I added a little coleslaw mix to this one. Let me explain. You see, I discovered this easy stir fry beef recipe on a fluke. I needed to put together a fast gluten and corn free meal with the ingredients I had on hand. This included a bag of coleslaw mix that I couldn’t get the kids to eat raw. That’s when I decided to try cooking it instead. I just threw it together and crossed my fingers, hoping that I wouldn’t have to cajole my three boys to at least try it. I almost grabbed the ketchup bottle on the way to the table, and it is a good thing I didn’t.
My boys just loved my easy gluten and corn free version of the traditional oriental stir fry beef recipe. My eldest practically licked his plate when he tasted our alternative recipe chalked full of veggies and without soy sauce or cornstarch. So I’ve decided to officially add it to my collection. This lovely dinner can be made in just under 30 minutes and it is gluten and corn-free, dairy-free, and good for those on an all natural preservative free Feingold diet. If you’d like to try it, here’s what you do:
Ingredients for Easy Stir Fry Beef:
3 or 4 “Sandwich” Steaks (Thin steak strips like the ones you’d use for London Broil)
1/4 cup of Gluten and corn-free low sodium gluten free Tamari Sauce (Ohsawa or another appropriate brand)
NOTE: * if you have celiac and are not allergic to soy, Tamari tastes a lot like soy sauce. Please read comments about corn free Tamari sauce if you have a corn allergy. Another option is Coconut Aminos, a natural alternative to soy sauce.
1 cup fresh coleslaw salad mix with added red cabbage and carrots
(NOTE: I found it in the fresh greens section at my grocer. This is a great addition to any Oriental beef stir fry recipe!)
3 stalks of celery, sliced thinly on an angle
1 onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic (diced)
1 ½ cups of fresh broccoli florets
Directions for Easy Stir Fry Beef:
Cut the beef for your stir fry however you’d like it, in thin long strips or as I have done here, in thinly diced bite-sized pieces. Place them in a lightly oiled preheated frying pan. Add the onions and the garlic, salt and pepper. Let it cook while you prepare the celery and if you are using slow-cooked rice begin to prepare it in a separate pot.
When the onions and garlic have rendered, add the celery, broccoli, coleslaw, and non-GMO low sodium Gluten Free Tamari Sauce. Cook an additional 15 minutes or until the vegetables have softened nicely. Cook on low until vegetables have softened to your liking. Add additional soy sauce if you wish. This recipe makes 6 servings of Oriental stir fry beef.
